Our design process
From first sketch to finished garden — five clear stages.
A good garden design answers a simple question before any work begins: what am I actually paying for, and when? Ours runs through five stages, so you always know where you are — and because we both design and build, the garden on the plan is the garden you end up standing in.

Consultation
We start with a visit and a proper conversation — how you use the garden, what works and what doesn’t, the look you’re drawn to, and a realistic sense of budget. We take measurements, note the aspect, soil and existing features, and listen more than we talk.

Scheme design
From that brief we develop a scheme: the layout, the balance of lawn, paving and planting, the flow from one area to the next. This is where the ideas take shape and where you get to react, change your mind and steer it before anything is fixed.

Final 2D plan
Once the scheme is agreed we produce a final, measured 2D plan — the working drawing that everything is built from. We can also prepare 3D plans so you can see the finished garden in the round before a single spade goes in.

Planting design
A detailed planting design chooses the right plants for your soil, light and taste, arranged for year-round interest and structure. We plant for how the garden will look in three years, not just in its first summer, and can style with furniture, lighting and pots.

Project management
Then we build it. Because the same team designs and builds, project management is straightforward — hard landscaping, planting and finishing all handled in-house, on a clear timeline, with the plan followed to the letter and the site left tidy at the end.
